GETTING UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN READY FOR SCHOOL

SHAH ALAM, 15 December 2015: 50 children from Rumah Amal Kasih Bestari and underprivileged families were all geared up and excited in heading back to school for year 2016 when they were handed with school bags, dictionaries, and other study supplies and stationaries by Great Vision Charity Association (GVCA) under their Back to School Program. Four representatives and volunteers from the association were there for the handover ceremony to personally present each of the children with the study supplies.

The program is held to enable underprivileged children to look forward to getting back to school with new school bags and study supplies, hence increasing their interest in learning and studying. Especially stressed to the children were the dual-language Malay-English dictionary that was provided, as the children were informed of the importance to pick up and master the English language. They were also taught some Mathematics multiplication tips by one of the volunteer.

The children were then in for some fun time when some games, activities, and goodies bags were arranged for them. They were especially thrilled and enjoyed themselves, laughing hilariously throughout the parcel passing game, with each quickly passing the parcel on their hands to their friends before the music stops in order to win prizes. The children then joined the volunteers for luncheon and a cake cutting session.

“We hope that the children had a wonderful time today. Great Vision Charity Association has always aimed to inspire and empower less fortunate people via education & awareness, and we hoped that with the newly received school supplies, the children will study harder to achieve good grades and have a better future,” commented President of GVCA Mr Franky See Swee Choy, who were there to hand the supplies to the children.

Slices of cakes were then distributed to each of the children. The event ended after luncheon. The children then shook hands with the volunteers and thanked them before bidding farewell.
